Invitation to Members of the Media
In light of the tragic event at WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Virginia, last week, the New York City Police Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau would like to invite members of the media to an informational/training symposium on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 1 P.M.
The symposium will take place in the One Police Plaza auditorium.
This training will provide members of the media with a better understanding of the active shooter phenomenon, including:
· Definition of an active shooter
· Characteristics of an active shooter
· Resolutions of active shooter scenarios
· Recommendations to mitigate the risks from active shooter attacks
The symposium will also outline the ways the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information and the media can coordinate information sharing and maintain safety during these types of incidents. We look forward to seeing you Thursday at Police Headquarters.
